NHTSA Warns of Airbag Risk

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is urging owners of certain Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, and General Motors vehicles to act immediately on recall notices to replace defective Takata airbags.

The message comes with urgency, especially for owners of vehicles affected by the regional recalls in the following areas Florida, Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Hawaii.

Toyota Recalls Avalons for Airbag Issues

Toyota is recalling 119,140 model year 2003-04 Avalon vehicles manufactured June 5, 2002, through Dec. 20, 2004.

In these vehicles, the supplemental restraint system (SRS) circuits are susceptible to internal shorting.
